Studying the books of Romans, Hebrews, and Galatians will give you a good base in what Jesus did for you. If you understand these books, you will not fall under the tendency of man to work for God’s approval to obtain something from Him.
What does a small child know about owing his parents for the things that are provided for them? Nothing. This is the attitude that Jesus said we must have to enter His kingdom.

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Mat 18:3-4 KJV)
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. (Mar 10:13 KJV)
But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. (Mar 10:13-15 KJV)
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein. (Luke 18:15-17 KJV)
You cannot add anything to what Jesus has provided, any attempt to do places you under the law. See Matthew 6:25-34, also Luke 12:22-34
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? (Matt 6:27 KJV)
The Holy Spirit came to teach you, to comfort you, and show you things to come. John the Baptist was commissioned centuries before he was born to prepare for Jesus to enter His earthly ministry (Isa 40:1-5). Jesus came to give us life - abundant life. He tells us to take His yoke upon us and learn of Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Ask Holy Spirit to show you how to have relationship with Jesus your Lord.
There is a separate experience with Holy Spirit after salvation called ‘the baptism in the Holy Spirit’. You receive this by believing in your heart God’s word that describes this, and asking for it (Luke 11:13). You will get a new prayer language called ‘speaking in tongues’ that builds you up spiritually (But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (Jude 1:20 KJV), and gives you knowledge (John 14:26), and power (Acts 1:8), from God.
Holy Spirit is the One who will lead you into relationship with your heavenly Father (John 15:26), (John 16:13-15).
